Volunteers
Volunteers are extremely important to the continuing
success of our program. From the crucial positions of Manager, Coach
and Umpire to serving on one of our committees, there are many ways
you can help make Little League a positive experience for your children.
Manager
Responsible for all the planning and decision making required
with the running of the team and setting coaching and player development.
Responsible for the team's actions on the field and to present the team
in communications with the umpire and the opposing team. Knowledge of
the game is important. Rulebooks and training will be provided.
Manager must be a leader. All managers must recognize
that they hold a position of trust and responsibility in a program,
which helps shape the physical, emotional and mental development of
young people. The manager must have understanding, patience and the
capacity to work with our young players.
Approximate time commitment: 2 games per week (6 hrs.)
and 1 practice (2 hr.)
Coach
Responsible to assist the manager with the operations of the
team. Knowledge of the game is important. Rulebooks and training will
be provided. Qualities for coaching are as above.
Approximate time commitment: 2 games per week (6 hrs.)
and 1 practice (2 hr.)
Assistant Coach
Responsible for helping the coaching staff when needed.
Team Administrator
Responsible in assisting the Manager and Coaches in organizing the administrative
aspects of the team.
Team Parent
Volunteer for all support duties needed for the team as directed by
the Team Administrator .
Umpire
Games are not played without umpires. Each team will require at least
two adults willing to take on this crucial position. The keys to successful
umpiring are: knowing the rules, being in the right spot to make the
call and maintaining control of the game. Rulebooks and clinics will
be provided. Approximate time commitment: 1-2 games per week (3-6 hrs.)
All-Star Coordinator
Responsible for coordinating various All-Star teams after the regular
season.
Division Commissioners
Responsible for the smooth operation of a division: organization
of uniforms, chocolate drive, raffle tickets, photos, liaison with coaching
staff and executive, scheduling of make-up games and division tournaments.
Approximate time commitment: 4 hrs. per week
Casino
Responsible for working at our appointed Alberta Gaming Commission Casino.
Maintenance & Equipment
Responsible for the distribution, restocking and collection of equipment
at each diamond.
Equipment Distribution & Return
Responsible for distribution, maintenance and collection of team equipment.
Photos
Responsible for booking the photographer, scheduling team pictures
and distribution of photos.
Player Evaluations
Responsible for evaluation of baseball and softball players age 9 and
over.
Registration
Responsible for organizing, accepting and inputting all player registrations.
Committees
Assist the Executive with organizing working on specific initiatives
and requirements
Scorekeepers Clinic
Responsible for the basic training of new scorekeepers.
Statistician
Responsible for collecting, tabulating and keeping records of all game
statistics throughout the season.
Umpire Coordinator
Responsible for scheduling umpires for league and playoff games.
Uniform Distribution & Return
Responsible for distribution, maintenance and collection of uniforms.
Seamstress is needed for repairing uniforms and sewing of sponsor and
league crests.
Webmaster
Responsible for the weekly update of NWLL web page.
